Herding Cats
Posted in travel on 05/15/2003 11:56 am by StephenSo, it may be possible to send the cats with only 4 months between rabies tests, not six. I just need to get a waiver from the MAF. Having full vaccination records for the animals makes the difference. This is exciting news, as it means by some time in June I should be able to get them on their way to NZ. With the cats taken care of it will simplify selling the house, since if I am on my own I can sell the house early and play Gypsy, sleeping on friends floors until my departure time arrives.
Of course this means all the cat paperwork I didn’t have to worry about for 6-8 weeks now suddenly comes crashing in. At least the pet transport people provide “bulk discounts” for sending three cats. That is indeed a very good thing! Even so it will cost as much to send the cats as it did to ship 7 tons of household goods. Children can be so expensive! :)
