cats vs dinosaurs

So, yesterday afternoon I get home and decide, since it has now warmed up sufficiently, to spread around some grass seed in an attempt to cover up some of those bare patches the nasty winter left in the side yard. It being a beautiful afternoon, I let the cats out. In retrospect I am glad I don’t live in a land filled with nasty predators, or I would be tucker now. In fact if it had not “gukk”ed I would never had noticed it… but I heard the gukk and wheeled around and there was a big ol’ wild turkey about 30 feet away in the middle of the back yard. This noise also alerted the three cats. Their reactions were quite interesting. Rasputin took one look and thought “oh dear, a nasty dinosaur descendent is in the yard… outta here!”. Slow Top watched it out of the corner of his eye while he continued to munch grass. Azami, however, was in over-stimmulation land. She was carefully approaching, making chattering noises all the way. The bird being about a meter tall she was a bit nervous, so she kept looking back to me for guidance (Rasputin, her normal teacher, now have vamoosed). Since i was standing still and not apporaching, I think it made her more cautious. She would not get closer than 20 feet, but boy was it fascinating to watch her! Eventually the turkey just wandered away into the woods.

And now, with three days left to go, I start the mad frenzy of cleaning. This Sunday will be the open house, and I know that every paint scratch I fix adds to the selling price. Thankfully most of the furniture is gone, but even so there is plenty of house to clean, vacuum, and then steam-vac. Plus the basement…. that is going to be “fun”.
